About the Conference

The International Conference titled The Legal Issues of Renewable Electricity in Asia Region: Recent Development at a Post-Fukushima and Post-Kyoto Protocol Era will take place at the premises of the National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) on August 22-23, 2013 in Hsinchu, Taiwan.  The Conference Language is English.

Faced with the challenges of global climate change, how to reshape the conventional energy regime to the ones in line with sustainable development has become a critical worldwide issue in the fields of public policy and political debate, economic and social development, and academy. Furthermore, since global climate change mainly results from fossil energy consumed by human beings and Asia including most developing countries and Japan has become a region with the rapidest growth in energy demand, Asia plays an increasing role in dealing with the very issues of energy and global climate change. Hence, the Conference is dedicated to catch the most recent development of energy law and policy in Asia region. This Conference renders the participants an in-depth and substantive discussion of energy issues in Asia.

Keynote lectures are plenary sessions and can be attended by all participants. The sessions are oriented to energy and environment – climate change. All contributors are climate change and energy related professionals, known for their outstanding research work in these fields, which would ensure the quality of the sessions.

 

About the Organization 

The Institute of Law for Science and Technology (ILST) of National Tsing Hua University is a burgeoning academic research institute which, in the past ten years, has continuingly participated in the development of related academy in the field of energy and climate change; including the most recent effort in hosting “2012 Eastern Asian Legal Forum on Climate Change & Energy: Adapt to climate change-Innovative Energy Policy and Law” in August, 2012. Themes and topics

In the frame of Changing Energy Law and Policy in Asia Region, the themes of the Conference will focus on the legal issues of renewable electricity in Asia Region. The Conference contains four panels and topics under which different issues and perspectives will be discussed.
